UMZIMVUBU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 AT EMAXESIBENI
As the global pandemic continues to soar through the vulnerable areas in the district, Umzimvubu Local Municipality has also registered its first positive case of COVID-19.
The municipal employee that tested positive has been isolated and is currently undergoing treatment. The Municipality can also confirm that the employee hasn’t been on any Municipal Premises, this after all municipal offices were fumigated on the 1st week of June.
In light of the above mentioned, the Municipal offices at EmaXesibeni will remain operational under strict precautionary measures. Umzimvubu has also established an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee that is responsible for ensuring that all COVID-19 precautionary measures are adhered to in preparing for the return of a few identified employees. The Municipal Manager, Mr Tobela Nota further confirms that contact tracing will be conducted.
“We understand that the employee was part of a housing handover programme in one of the villages at EmaXesibeni. We have since undergone a process together with the Department of Health to trace all participants who were part of the handover programme” said Umzimvubu Municipal Manager, Mr Tobela Nota.
“The municipality strongly encourages employees to observe precautionary measures and to go for a test upon suspicion” concluded Mr Nota.
The municipality wishes the employee a speedy recovery and encourages all local residents to remain safe and adhere to lockdown regulations.
Your health is in your hands.
