Earlier today, the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, MEC Mlungisi Mvoko and Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu visited Ndzongiseni Village, EmaXesibeni. The visit comes after two women led cooperatives in the area were supported with tools of trade. These include a water tank and a tractor valued at R 1 million rand. The visit was to further encourage more cooperatives in the area to explore agricultural opportunities and investment. The MECs visit to this area demonstrates the department's commitment to supporting local enterprises and initiatives that contribute to economic growth and the empowerment of women.The two cooperatives are producing fresh produce for both the local formal and informal markets.“The promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation, enterprise growth and competitiveness is critical in growing the economy and creating jobs.
