UMZIMVUBU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY MOURNS THE PASSING OF POSSIBLY THE OLDEST SENIOR CITIZEN IN THE WORLD, KWABHACA.Umzimvubu Local Municipality has learnt with sadness of the passing of Nomamelika Emy Piliso, 119, who is believed to be one of the oldest people in the world. She first made headlines in 2021, when she voluntary took the COVID-19 vaccine, which in-turn, globally made her the oldest senior citizen to get vaccinated. Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu, joined many others in passing heartfelt condolences to the family.“Our sincere condolences go towards the Piliso Family and the KwaBhaca community at large. Her participation in the COVID-19 vaccination programme in 2021, warmed many hearts and further prompted many people to get vaccinated. At her age, we can only be grateful for the memory and the wonderful time spent with her”, added the Mayor.Umam'uPiliso is said to have passed on peacefully in her sleep.
