Special Programmes and Communication Department

The Communication and Special Programmes Department is responsible for all communication activities within the institution, both internal and external. It takes pride in cultivating and sustaining a strong institutional reputation, promoting a positive public image, and positioning the Municipality as a leader in Development Communication.

Located in the Mayor’s Office and Office and the Municipal Manager, the Department provides strategic support to the Mayor, who serves as the Chief Communicator of the Institution. It ensures that the Municipality’s image is positively represented to the community through a diverse range of communication platforms.

The Department works to facilitate seamless communication across all levels of the Municipality. It ensures that messages are generated and delivered to the right audiences at the right time, clearly, accurately, and without distortion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining strong media relations
  • Engaging stakeholders effectively through the Public Participation Unit
  • Promoting transparency and accessibility.
  • Supporting strategic campaigns and initiatives.
